What is Curaçao? |
Curaçao is a beautiful island.
Almost 24/7 sunny weather, white sandy beaches, crystal clear water, nice people, active nightlife, untouched nature and monuments, modern economy, relaxed lifestyle --> paradise on earth.
Curaçao is about 171 square miles (444 km²); 38 miles (61 km) long and from 3 to 8.7 miles (5-14 km) wide. Mount Christoffel in nature reserve Christoffel Park is the highest point on the island (375 meters high). Curaçao counts approximately 144.000 inhabitants of about 40 to 50 different nationalities.
Willemstad is the capital and only city on Curaçao.

Where is Curaçao located? |
Curaçao is located in the southwestern Caribbean, at 12° north latitude and 68° west longitude. The island is just 43 miles (70 km) north of Venezuela and between the islands Aruba and Bonaire.
It's outside the hurricane belt, making it a sure holiday destination for good weather year round.

Curaçao flag and national anthem |
The Curaçao flag portrays the blue sea and sky, bisected by the yellow sun. The two stars represent Curaçao and its uninhabited sister island Klein (little) Curaçao; their five points symbolize the five continents from which the varied local population originates.

Curaçao, along with neighboring Bonaire and three islands in the north eastern Caribbean (St. Maarten, St. Eustatius and Saba), form the Netherlands Antilles, an autonomous part of the Kingdom of the Netherlands. Curaçaoans are Dutch nationals and carry European Union passports.

Curaçao is located in the tropics, just 12° north of the equator, therefore Curaçao has a warm, sunny climate year round. The average temperature is about 27° C (80 F). The popular refreshing northeast trade winds blow constantly, making the warm weather very agreeable. The rainy season, October to February, is usually marked by short, occasional showers, continued by sunny weather. Total annual rainfall averages 570 mm (22 inches).
